ABOUT US
HIHS is a society that is built around two main pillars:

1) To get the student community more integrated and involved in health services for the homeless and other vulnerable populations

2) To educate the public on the issues of homelessness and health access in our university community.
Our Approach
The Homelessness and Inclusion Health Society takes an active role in promoting inclusion health principles through three main avenues: education, volunteering, and advocacy.
01
Education
We raise awareness within the student community about the unique health challenges faced by socially excluded groups. Through workshops, seminars, and discussions, we educate students on health disparities, trauma-informed care, and the importance of inclusive healthcare practices.
02
Volunteering
A principle part of what we do is connecting students to community organizations that work directly with inclusion health groups. By volunteering with partners and other local organisations, students gain firsthand experience and contribute meaningfully to improving healthcare access.
03
Advocacy
HIHS advocates for better healthcare policies and practices for marginalized groups. We collaborate with healthcare professionals and organizations to promote trauma-informed, person-centered care. We aim to challenge barriers within the system, such as the exclusionary practices some individuals face when trying to access basic services like general practice registration.
